Runaway horse leads police on wild chase through New Jersey neighborhood

These New Jersey officers definitely weren’t horsing around!

The Monroe Township Police Department shared in a comedic social media post that on Friday, November 21, 2025, just before 8 a.m., officers were dispatched to Hunter Woods after someone reported a loose horse casually strolling through the neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they found the runaway horse, appropriately named Seabiscuit, but as soon as they tried to approach him, he quickly fled down a residential street.

A brief foot pursuit followed, emphasis on “foot,” because police said one of the responding officers realized he could not outrun the horse.

Fortunately, thanks to a bit of teamwork, officers were able to safely wrangle Seabiscuit and return him to his owner.
