Patrick Henry High School golfer Zadie Posternack is not one to shy away from going after the goals she has set for herself.

The junior recently captured her second consecutive San Diego City Conference individual championship in stroke play and match play, winning her matches 1-up and 2-up respectively, while playing at Balboa and Torrey Pines North golf courses.

“It was super thrilling,” Posternack said. “The City Conference has a large field that includes countless different teams and great student athletes, so earning the chance to repeat at both stroke and match play was rewarding.

Balboa and Torrey Pines are two amazing city courses that were in great shape for our week as well, so having dialed-in facilities made it all that much more enjoyable. Plus, representing the city kids and our public schools in the Allied Gardens, Del Cerro, and San Carlos communities is a great privilege.”

For Posternack, having a great high school season on the links is nothing new.

“The high school season was great,” Posternack said. “We were able to repeat as Eastern League champs, and our team grew in size, so by those metrics, it was awesome. As for my own season, I’d say it was consistent and solid. The nine-hole matches throughout the year are great practice for tournament play.

“I was happy with my overall differential and finishing inside the top 20 in the county again, especially because of how strong the North County competition is and how elite San Diego County junior golf is overall. But in all honesty, I’m never truly and completely satisfied with my own game.”

Improving her game moving ahead is something Posternack has her sights set on.

“As for where my game is at, it depends on the day,” Posternack said. “I think a large area of growth this past year was with my course management and confidence on the greens. Understanding the value of different shot shapes and psychologically accepting pars as wins when I’m grinding is helping me score as well.”

As November moves on, Posternack is not putting the golf clubs away anytime soon.

“It is awesome to be a part of the golf community here in San Diego, and I’m looking forward to my round (2025 CIF-SCGA So Cal Girls High School Championship) at Los Serranos in Chino Hills in a few days on the 13th,” Posternack said.

“Last year was a great experience for me to learn from, and this year I will prove to myself that I’ve learned those lessons. Advancing to the state finals at Poppy Hills has been a goal of mine since last year, and it’s going to be awesome getting after it with some of the highest-ranked junior golfers in California.”
