MinnPost executive director transition set for 2026

After eight years at MinnPost, including the past five as executive director, Tanner Curl will be leaving the organization at the end of this year to take a new role as senior director of advancement at the Minneapolis-based youth development nonprofit, Project Success.

In announcing his decision, Tanner shared:

Tanner Curl, MinnPost executive director

While I’m thrilled to join the incredible team at Project Success and take on this exciting new role, it’s a bittersweet decision to say goodbye to MinnPost. I’m incredibly proud of the work and accomplishments we’ve achieved together, and I believe in the strategy and growth that’s underway thanks to the generous lead $1 million matching gift from cofounders Joel and Laurie Kramer.

I’m grateful to the donors, members, funders, sponsors, and most especially the committed board and talented staff. It’s been an honor to work with you all, and I’ll be forever thankful.

In his tenure at MinnPost, Tanner and the team he has supported have grown and strengthened every aspect of MinnPost – the newsroom and our team of reporters; our audience and base of members and donors; all aspects of our operations; and our finances. We’re grateful to him for all of his contributions to MinnPost’s growth and wish him well in this next chapter of his career.

MinnPost is the strongest it’s been in its 18-year history. It is recognized as a trailblazer and leader in the nonprofit news field. MinnPost is on a firm foundation, and the team we have in place is continuing the momentum of the last several years.

The board will immediately launch a search for our next executive director, which we expect will be much sought after. Our next leader will have the tremendous advantage of working with a strong board, a very talented staff, and having the support of you, our generous and loyal readers.

Peter Hutchinson is the chair of MinnPost’s Board of Directors.
