Here are 10 ice skating rinks around the Chicago suburbs this holiday season

The holiday season is a time for Christmas markets, plenty of shopping and, of course, ice skating.

While Chicago’s Maggie Daley Park is one of the most popular spots for ice skating in the Chicago area, it’s far from the only option.

Whether you’re a beginner planning to navigate the ice for the first time, a seasoned expert or just looking to level up your skills on the rink, here are a number of places you can go:

The Rink at Block 59 – Naperville

New for 2025, The Rink at the Block 59 shopping center offers one hour and 45 minute skating sessions. Ice skating kicked off for the season Nov. 20 and goes through Jan. 18. Information on ticket prices can be found here.

Chicago Wolves Ice Rink at Parkway Bank Park – Rosemont

Offering free admission to guests, the Chicago Wolves Ice Rink at Parkway Bank Park is hosting a number of open skating sessions throughout the winter. Guests can bring their own skates or rent a pair for $8.

Central Athletic Complex – Wheaton

Multiple ice rinks are situated within the Central Athletic Complex in suburban Wheaton. Residents skate free, though prices vary for non-residents.

  • Seniors – 60 and over – $5

Citizens Park – Barrington

The ice rink at Citizens Park in suburban Barrington is open seven days a week. Hours can be found below:

  • Monday through Friday – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday – 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Community Ice Rink at Central Park – Oak Brook

The Oak Brook Park District’s Community Ice Rink features benches, overhead lighting, and unique under-ice lights, according to the park district website. Additional information can be found here.

Daniel V. Capuano Ice Rink – Evergreen Park

Located at Yukich Fields, the hours of the Daniel V. Capuano Ice Rink depend on the weather, according to the village of Evergreen Park. Open skating is permitted but fees and rental prices vary.

Deep River Waterpark – Crown Point, Indiana

While summer might be its busiest season, Deep River Waterpark in northwest Indiana offers ice skating on the plaza during the holiday season and after. Pricing information can be found here.

Elmhurst YMCA Skate Rink

The Elmhurst YMCA offers a variety of programming at its outdoor skating rink year-round, including open skate hours. Additional information is available here.

Winter Wonderland Ice Skating Rink – Orland Park

Winter Wonderland Ice Skating Rink in south suburban Orland Park is expected to open on Nov. 29 weather permitting. Details on hours and rental costs can be found here.

Weinberg Family Recreation Center Ice Rink – Glencoe

The Weinberg Family Recreation Center features two lighted, outdoor refrigerated skating rinks. Both rinks operate beginning on Black Friday through the end of February, according to the Glencoe Park District.
