The Regional Transportation District is conducting emergency repairs to the Yale Street bridge in Denver after a fuel tanker collided with the structure on Thanksgiving and disrupted light rail service in the southeast corridor.
The non-RTD crash on Thursday afternoon damaged the bridge’s retaining wall and continues to impact light rail service, RTD officials said.
The tanker was the only vehicle involved in the 1 p.m. crash, which resulted in fuel being spilled on the roadway.
Multiple agencies and emergency personnel responded to the accident, and light rail service was immediately suspended in the area.
The Yale Station was temporarily closed following the crash, but it has since reopened to customers.
Bus shuttles and some limited E Line service have been established along the Southeast Corridor to provide customers with continued connections.
While the repair work is underway, the following alternative services are in place:
- Southbound E Line service between the Interstate 25/Broadway and Southmoor stations has been temporarily replaced by a combination of trains and bus shuttles. Southbound customers board on the northbound track at Southmoor Station.
- Northbound E Line service between the Southmoor and I-25/Broadway stations has been temporarily replaced by shuttle service. Customers traveling downtown will need to transfer to the D Line at the I-25/Broadway Station. Customers can board northbound E Line trains on the southbound track at Southmoor Station.
- E Line trains are operating normally between the Southmoor and RidgeGate Parkway stations.
Customers are encouraged to sign up for service alerts or check RTD’s website for bus and rail schedules. Customer Care agents are available seven days a week by calling 303-299-6000
