Boy, 3, dies following house fire in Chester, Delaware County

A child, that was injured in a house fire in Chester, Delaware County, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, has succumbed to his injuries, officials said.

According to police, a 3-year-old boy who — along with a woman — were hospitalized following a house fire that erupted at a property along the 200 block of Wilson Street on the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025.

On Sunday morning, officials confirmed the boy had passed.

On social media, Chester City Councilmember Fred Green identified to victim as 3-year-old Sy’Aire Redd. The councilman said the woman, who was still hospitalized in critical condition, as the boy’s mother.

Green also said that there will be a balloon release and prayer on the block where the fire happened on Wednesday November 26, 2025 at 6 p.m. to remember the boy.

According to fire officials Sy’Aire and the woman injured in this incident were rescued after being trapped on the second floor of the home.

One child, officials said, was able to escape the home and ran to a neighbor’s property for help.
