
The White Sox’ bullpen seems to add and delete arms almost daily. Before their series opener Friday against the Mariners at Rate Field, the Sox added well-traveled right-hander Trevor Richards.Richards, who turns 33 next week, is in his ninth major-league season and entered Friday with a 24-28 record and 4.52 ERA in 297 games with eight teams. The Sox acquired the Aviston, Illinois, native from the Phillies on Tuesday for cash, then optioned struggling righty Jordan Leasure to Triple-A Charlotte.Richards started the season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, before the Phillies called him up April 30. He pitched in two games for the Phillies — tossing 4 1/3 innings and allowing one run on four hits (2.08 ERA) — before being dealt to the White Sox.Richards attributed a good start in the minors this season to renewed success with his changeup.“It ultimately comes down to the changeup for me,” he said. “For me, that’s what I’ve been my whole career. So for me, just getting that back in the zone, getting guys in better counts, where they gotta’ bite on it one way or another.”Richards began his major-league career in 2018 with the Marlins as a starter and made starts in 48 of 55 games in his first two seasons, with the Marlins and Rays.“Can still go multiples [innings],’’ Richards said. “It just depends.”The Sox also recalled left-hander reliever Tyler Schweitzer from Charlotte and designated righty Osvaldo Bido for assignment.Leasure needs workLeasure headed to Charlotte with after going 2-1 with a…
