Bishop Feehan shuts out Bishop Stang in rematch of Div. 1 quarterfinal

ATTLEBORO — Bishop Feehan was upset by Bishop Stang in the Elite Eight last season, en route to the Stang’s Cinderella run to the Division 1 girls hockey championship game, where it lost to Hingham last March. Needless to say, Bishop Feehan was looking for payback when it faced Bishop Stang on Wednesday night, and the Shamrocks got it with a 2-0 girls hockey victory. “The girls were really up for it, we didn’t have to say anything,” Shamrocks head coach Michael Cripps said, “We’ve circled it on the schedule at the beginning of the season, as we’re also their rivals, so it’s always a big game when we play.” Stang and Feehan were looking for their first victories of the season, as Feehan was shut out by HPNA 2-0 in its season opener on Saturday, and Stang tied with Notre Dame Academy (Hingham) 1-1, another opponent it upset on their championship run last season. The Shamrocks didn’t take too long to get their first goal of the season when Annie Lough scored from the left side of the net and got it past Stang’s Vivienne Melo. Feehan team captain Georgia Murray had the assist on the goal. “I’m very excited that I scored that, because it really excited the whole team,” Lough said, “I think we all played better, because we wanted to win more, and I think it brought up the energy and the chemistry that we wanted to work for.” Eleven minutes into the first period, Shamrock…
