The Chicago White Sox have added a reliever to their bullpen, signing Anthony Kay to a multi-year contract according to multiple reports.
According to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, the two-year deal will pay Kay $5 million per season, with a mutual option of $10 million for the 2028 season.
After a five-year MLB career, Kay has pitched the last two seasons in Japan for Yokohama, with a 9-6 record and a 1.74 ERA in 24 appearances last season.
In his five MLB seasons, he has a 5.59 ERA in 44 total appearances, primarily pitching out of the bullpen for the Blue Jays, Cubs and Mets.
He most recently pitched for the Mets during the 2023 season, giving up two earned runs in 3.1 innings of relief work.
When Kay is officially signed, the White Sox 40-man roster will stand at 35 players.
