A full house at San Diego at Snapdragon Stadium Saturday night as San Diego FC faced Vancouver.
San Diego FC fans showed up with high expectations.
“Let’s go San Diego,” were the cheers from fans at Snapdragon Stadium Sunday night.
“We’re watching who we’re going to play next. Very cool. So you guys are expecting a win. Absolutely,” Gerald Bartolome said as he and his family tailgated in the parking lot.
The game was filled with anticipation and excitement.
“It’s a first, it’s the first inaugural season, it’s the first conference final for the team, it’s the first for everything so enthusiasm is through the roof,” Minesh Kakhani said.
“A little nervous, but yeah, extremely excited to be in this position,” Bartolome said.
“This city is irking for a championship and we’re literally two games away from winning it all. When you see a young team as ours just come in and just show as much passion and show the fire, you know, it really represents the city,” Daniel Castillo said.
Fans hoped San Diego FC would walk away with a win and make the MLS cup final, but despite the 3-1 loss, fans are optimistic they can make a deeper playoff run next season.
“The city has brought us something to be proud of and I don’t want to…I’m really proud of this team,” Niel Weiss said.
“Another great San Diego team, just a…we’ll get them next time,” Michelle Spurgeon said.
“Hey, listen, it’s not what we expected. I don’t think we expected this type of performance all year long. We’re blessed to be San Diegans true San Diegans, love SDFC,” Anthony said.
“I can’t wait. I’ve got my season ticket deposit in. I’m so stoked,” Niel Weiss said.
Fans leaving Snapdragon Stadium disappointed, but proud of what SDFC has done in its inaugural season.
San Diego FC’s next season starts February 21st.
