You can bake a cake that’s in the shape of a building, should you want to honor a new home or a landmark’s milestone anniversary.

But finding an entire real-world structure, one that’s quite large, that has an appearance that could be whimsically described as rather “cake-like,” or at least lacy, lovely, and old-fashioned?

That’s also a difficult task, but one that can be successfully completed by making your way to the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden.

The colossal and cake-y building we’re celebrating? It’s the property’s historic and famous Queen Anne Cottage, that stately home that rose to larger fame in “Fantasy Island” in the 1970s and early ’80s.

The fanciful building, which dates back to the 1880s, will serve as the picturesque focal point of A Victorian Holiday, a three-weekend celebration at the Arcadia garden.

A holiday marketplace will pop up on the lawn near the cottage, with decorations, carolers, and other convivial seasonal touches adding to the atmosphere.

Walk-throughs of the cottage are also part of the event, giving guests a rare chance to admire a home constructed in the 1880s during the era of Lucky Baldwin, the property’s 19th-century owner.

If you simply want to enjoy the lawn scene, that’s included with Arboretum admission. You’ll need a separate ticket, though, to have a look inside the house.

Can’t make it to the old-fashioned event over the final weekend of November or the first two weekends in December?

A few other holiday-themed happenings are on the destination’s schedule, specifically wreath-making workshops.

It’s also a time of year when the garden is looking especially golden in certain areas, a perfect spot to savor the lingering beauty of fall.
