When is Black Friday?
Black Friday marks the unofficial kickoff to the holiday shopping season in the U.S. It traditionally follows Thanksgiving and has grown into a full weekend, often a full week of deals.
This year, Black Friday falls on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025.
Cyber Monday, which spotlights online-only promotions, lands on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025.
What actually makes a Black Friday or Cyber Monday deal “good”?
A big percent-off sticker isn’t always the full story. Here’s how to make sure you’re getting a real discount:
- Know the baseline price: Get familiar with prices ahead of Black Friday. Many items quietly fluctuate in the weeks leading up to it.
- Use price-tracking tools: Apps like ShopSavvy, Honey, and PayPal’s shopping tools can alert you to price drops and compare prices across retailers so you know if you’re truly getting the best offer.
- Prioritize the items you really want: Sometimes securing the gift is more important than waiting for the lowest price. Hot holiday items can, and often do, sell out. If something is high priority, grabbing it early may save you stress later.
