Since at least October, Good Boy Dog Recovery, an animal rescue group has been in search of a red fox with a plastic drainage pipe stuck around its neck, in the hopes of freeing the animal from it’s dilemma.
And, on Sunday morning, on social media, the rescue group announced that it has successfully tracked, trapped, treated and released the animal back into the wild.
The rescue group said that the fox, which it had nicknamed “Sly,” had been spotted roaming around Broomall in Delaware County several times ahead of its eventual rescue.
The animal, organizers said, was captured on Saturday evening.
According to a social media post from the Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation and Education Center, where the animal was taken after it was captured, the fox was “a very cooperative patient” and was able to be returned to the wild after a few hours — and after having been vaccinations and other medical treatment.
The group had set up feeding stations and had been using drones and surveillance cameras to try and catch the fox.
