Position Summary

Rowan-Cabarrus Community College is in search of a skilled Technical Support Specialist to bolster our Department of eLearning and Faculty Development Services within the Academic Programs division. We’re looking for individuals with exceptional organizational and research abilities, adept interpersonal and teamwork capabilities, and outstanding oral and written communication prowess. If you’re meticulous, possess robust computer skills including proficiency with online instruction applications software, and prioritize customer service with a solid work ethic, then you could be the ideal fit for this role with a primary emphasis on operational support.

This is a 12-month, full-time position that reports to the Director of eLearning and Faculty Development Services. This is not a remote position, and will be seated on our North Carolina Research Center (NCRC) campus in Kannapolis, NC

Required Education/Experience

Associate’s degree in computer science or a related field and four (4) years of experience in technical support of a learning management system; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment; Recordkeeping practices; Computers and related software applications; Customer service principles; Filing principles and practices; English language, grammar, and punctuation.

Skill in: Utilizing modern office equipment; Providing customer service; Preparing correspondence, memos, and/or other related information; Reviewing, assembling, and organizing data and information; Monitoring a budget; Using a computer and related software applications; Prioritizing and assigning work; Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with subordinates, coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

  • Providing the preliminary assessment of student and faculty needs as communicated to the department.

  • Developing training materials and assisting in training end-users in other related training sessions.

  • Providing operational support to the Director and staff by: creating and maintaining technical forms for department systems, maintaining appropriate data records/files, preparing operational reports, maintaining and updating departmental memberships, preparing meeting agendas and meeting minutes & assisting with the logistics of departmental events
