Power restored after over 100,000 LADWP customers report outages across Los Angeles

Officials say power has been restored after a widespread outage affected large portions of Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, leaving more than 100,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers without electricity, according to the utility.

LADWP later told KTLA that about 31,000 customers began experiencing a power outage just before 1 p.m. on Saturday.

As of about 1:30 p.m., LADWP’s outage map showed more than 100,000 customers impacted across Mid-Wilshire, Beverly Hills, Culver City and surrounding neighborhoods. The utility’s website displayed dozens of large outage clusters—each representing areas where more than 2,500 customers are affected—with repair crews assigned or already on scene.

The outage also appeared to be impacting parts of West Los Angeles, where a KTLA staff member reported power went out at the Equinox Century City gym around 1 p.m., prompting staff to evacuate everyone inside as a precaution.

An LAFD spokesperson told KTLA that firefighters were responding to “a lot of elevator rescues” during that time, a common issue during large-scale power failures.

LADWP officials confirmed to KTLA they were aware of the outage and said crews were working to gather more information about its cause and estimated restoration times.

In a 2:42 p.m. update, LADWP told KTLA that all customers are again with power, and that the cause of the outage remains under investigation.

Residents can check the latest outage updates on LADWP’s outage map.
