COXSACKIE, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A 16-year-old and four juvenile passengers were reportedly injured after a crash on State Route 81 in Coxsackie on Saturday, according to New York State Police. The crash happened around 3:15 p.m.
Troopers said an initial investigation determined a 16-year-old male was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu westbound when he reportedly lost control of the car and struck a rock embankment.
According to troopers, the driver and his passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries in the crash and were transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
According to Greene County 911, the call was reported with an entrapment and an ejection. On Monday, troopers said all passengers were reported in stable condition.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at (845) 344-5300 and reference case number NY2500880748.
On Saturday, the Earlton Fire Department thanked the mutual aid and first responders who responded to the call.
“A big thank you to our EMS, law enforcement, and dispatch partners who responded during the accident on Route 81 this afternoon. The coordination and teamwork of everyone involved helped mitigate a tough situation and got the patients cared for as soon as possible.”
The Earlton Fire Department, Coxsackie Ambulance, Ravena Rescue Squad, Catskill Ambulance, Greene EMS and Life Net were called to the scene. New York State Police and Greene County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
